The storm water drains that run below Grahamstown often go unnoticed. However, these drains have become an easy access route for criminals to escape from the scene of a crime. In this piece, the police, Hi-Tec and the municipality are interviewed, each giving their stance on the tunnels. While the police and Hi-Tec wish to have gates erected in these tunnels, the municipality informs that this is not possible owing to the fact that the gates would become blocked and would cause flooding.

Leonie Joubert on Climate Change

Professor Jolanda Roux, of the University of Pretoria, presents a lecture on the importance of maintaining healthy trees for a healthy society at the 2012 Scifest Africa in Grahamstown.. She explains the threats on global tree population and the impact this could have on the planet. She gives a shocking example of what happened in the Easter Islands during a time of extreme deforestation eons ago. This video warns of serious threats to society should tree viruses and pathogens not be taken care of.
